CONTROL (any gender, late teens on up)
It was my fault. And I'm not just trying to be all sweet, I'm not trying to cover for you. This one really was my fault.
I'm the one who lost the money. You did the right thing, the hiding place was perfect. You didn't mess up, nobody suddenly found it and stole it. I've been taking it out bit by bit over the last month.
Charlie's been blackmailing us.
I thought I could keep things under control, it's what I'm good at. I didn't want to worry you, babe, you've been on such a good run, I'm so proud of you... but I also know how you kind of freeze up when things are bad. You either freeze up or you dip into our supply to keep going and I don't want you going down that hole again.
But... but now it's worse, isn't it?
'Cause now we gotta straighten things out with Charlie-- you-- you gotta straighten things out with Charlie, I know I'm no good at doing the dirty work. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't come back to me when it's over. I just wanted to make sure you had the upper hand when Charlie tries to dupe you. Like I duped you, right? I guess I'm the screw up now, huh?
